The Center for Sacred Studies is part of a collective prayer that includes the Ministry Training Program, the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, the Kayumari spiritual village, the Morningstar Foundation, and the Stargate school.

Our prayers for world peace and the unity of all peoples are joined by an ever-growing number of colleagues and allies, who are represented by sites on our Links page. We are happy to share our space with our community: if you know of a site that we should consider, please contact us.

Center for Sacred Studies

The Center for Sacred Studies (CSS) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to sustaining indigenous ways of life through cross-cultural spiritual practices, ministry and education, and a commitment to peace and unity for all peoples.

CSS works to create opportunities for individuals from different nations to meet and share their ways of life, heal relations, create collaborative relationships, and combine resources in order to manifest solutions to the challenges that currently threaten the global village.

CSS activities include providing prayer services, ceremonies, and a variety of gatherings for worship according to various traditions. The purpose of these offerings is to invite individuals, families, and communities to develop devotion, and to strengthen their relationship to the Divine.

Grandmothers

The International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers

On October 11, 2004, 13 Indigenous Grandmothers from all over the world-–Alaska, North, South and Central America, Africa, and Asia, arrived at Tibet House's Menla Mountain Retreat amidst 340 acres of forests, fields and streams in upstate New York. Within a few days of convening, the grandmothers agreed to form a global alliance. In the words of the Grandmothers:

“We are deeply concerned with the unprecedented destruction of our Mother Earth and the destruction of indigenous ways of life. We believe the teachings of our ancestors will light our way through an uncertain future.”

The council is united to work together to serve both their common goals and their specific local concerns.

DEER

Kayumari

Founded in 1995, nestled on 160 acres surrounded by national forests in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, Kayumari is a spiritual village providing a synergistic environment aligned with Mother Earth, for the mindful integration of cross-cultural practices and the commitment to the achievement of the highest human potential.

Kayumari is known in the Huichol Indian tradition as a blue deer that brings messages to the people from Spirit. It is said that where the blue deer walks, healthy communities grow.

The mission of Morningstar Foundation begins when a life threatening condition alters the course of a person’s life. Our ministers support individuals facing serious illness, as well as their families and caregivers, who may be suffering without adequate spiritual and emotional nourishment.

Morningstar Foundation provides compassionate counseling, education and pastoral care. We honor each person’s relationship to the sacred during times of healing, dying and bereavement.

Stargate

The Stargate School is a unique 10-month experiential program designed to explore and study Non Ordinary States of Consciousness (NOSC’s). Many cultures besides contemporary western culture integrate NOSC’s into everyday life to facilitate personal and community-wide growth. Focus is directed at teaching safe ways to work with subtle energies within the mind-body-spirit connection of us as individuals, and as a collective.

For more information on the program or to request a brochure please call 209.533.8809.

More connections in the Village are beginning to light up. Watch for upcoming news about issues of environmental sustainability, and how through the use of permaculture and alternative energy systems, we can care for ourselves and our Mother.
